Rocket-Man 2: part 1
(2005)
Two robot hit men are sent on a mission to kill rocket-man.
written, directed, edited and shot by Michael J Dowswell
Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1
DIRECTORS STATEMENT
As I went from directing Errans Ruber, which was a fairly short short, I wanted to throw myself at somthing bigger and
attempt to do somthing over ten minutes, the first rocket-man was taken so very well that I thought I would return
to that universe and do another adventure there. The project grew and grew, and I chose a very long piece of
classical music that I love, but it was *indeed* a very long piece. One of my promises to myself is to try very hard never
cut up a piece of classical music, or at least to let a big chunk of it play out, its odd but you hardly ever see this
in cinema anymore, Kubrick was one to do it, and I think it worked rather well for his films. It seems only polite
to the composer who did it also.
Now I'm not setting out to be exactly like Kubrick, every film director should make what they themselves want to see,
I do want to see more uninterrupted classical music in film because I love it, and because I believe there’s still some wonderful
wonderful music to be used.
TRIVIA
-The film got accused by some of being too much like 2001
